Meet the Founder
Let me formally introduce myself! My name is Nana Arasah, and I am the founder of The Ladies Abroad. I'm a 26-year-old Nigerian-American from Dallas, Texas with a passion for all things travel!
I first started my traveling journey in October of 2016 when I moved to London to pursue my master's degree. I guess you can say that I'm a bit of a risk taker because I knew not a soul when I moved there. I've never even traveled to another state by myself, but found myself across the pond. Was I scared? Of course! So many things were rushing through my mind, but I refused to live my life in fear! I packed my bags and completely moved my life to England and let me tell you...I LOVED IT!
Living in London, I had the opportunity to meet so many people from different backgrounds; It was such an amazing feeling! London is a melting pot of different nationalities, and that's what I love about it. I was meeting people from different walks of life.
When I wasn't drowning in my studies, I was looking at flights to various countries. I've made a few friends while living in London, but everyone couldn't travel when I wanted to. Obviously for different reasons. I've even planned a few trips with friends, and a few of them canceled on me. I was so tired of people canceling travel plans, especially when it's a place that I've always wanted to visit. So what did I do? Solo traveling!
I've been solo traveling for over two years now, and I wouldn't trade it for the world!
While traveling, I would make friends in each city/town/country that I visited! I'm a very friendly person and love making friends where ever I go! A lot of my friendships started with a DM on Instagram (usually initiated by me) to meet up! I would usually message Instagrammers/bloggers, which is 50% of how I take my pictures when traveling. My trusty tripod takes the other 50%.
My passion for travel has fueled my desire to start a company where other women can acknowledge their full potential. I wanted this company to cater to women who are tired of being let down by friends and family when it comes to traveling. I want to encourage women to step outside their comfort zone! It's exactly what I did, and I haven't been the same since! The Ladies Abroad is a travel company that focuses on making new connections with women from around the world!
So stop waiting on people to travel or you'll never go anywhere.
